Tatsumi Fujinami vs Chavo Guerrero - May 9, 1980
I downloaded a bunch of the old DVDVR sets, and have been jumping around between them. Fujinami in the 80s is really great, but I already knew he was great. Chavo, who I haven't really seen anything of, has impressed me, both here in NJPW and on the Mid-South stuff I've seen him in.
A lot of stuff came out about Marty Jones being a racist piece of garbage recently, so if that effects you're enjoyment of watching him wrestler, that's cool. He's not going to make any money off of this though, and I like this match, so here it is. One of the few good Sayama matches from this period.
Mr. Gannosuke vs Leon Spinks - August 31, 1993
One of these guys beat Muhammed Ali, the other went on to be one of the stars of the Guts World promotion. Is it a good wrestling match? No, but for what it is, its great.
Abdullah the Butcher vs Nobuhiko Takada - October 8. 1996
This is pre-Pride, post Anjo gettikng killed by Rickson, UWFi is in its death throws Takada. The bloom is off the rose but he's still a star and here he is fighting Abdullah the Butcher. It's the sort of thing that would make Lou Thesz walk out of a show, but a lot like Spinks/Gannosuke you have to see it anyway.
Reggie Bennett vs Rie Tamada - February 18, 1998
This starts with a flying armbar attempt and has a powerbomb that looks like it would turn all of your bones into dust. It's great.
Aramis vs Arez - March 8, 2020
Two of the best young luchadors at the moment, they wrestle fast with a lot of counters and reversals. Aramis hits a great tope in the first fall that is worth checking out.
Manabu Soya vs Masa Kitamiya - June, 20, 2020
NOAH ran a tournament to determine Nakajima's next challenger. This is the final of the tournament. I can take or leave Soya, I've never been super impressed by him in Wrestle-1. Kitamiya on the other hand, is super underrated.
