Glass Hand Disolving: Bobby Eaton & Sweet Brown Sugar

with Stan Lane vs Robert Gibson, Rick Gibson, & Tojo Yamamoto (Memphis 1/6/1982)

This is best 2-out-of-3 falls. This starts off by getting most of the participants involved for a bit. Sugar starts with Robert Gibson, then Eaton tags in, then Lane is in, and Eaton is back in, and the heels are now in control, each taking turns taking it to Robert. Eventually Robert tags in Rick and the other Gibson clears house before taging in Tojo. Things fall apart from here, all the while Tojo is working an abdominal claw. Eaton blindsides Yamamoto from the top rope, puts Ware on top and the heels have won the first fall.

Tojo and Ware start the first fall, but he qucikly tags in Robert, who Ware Irish Whips toward the ropes, where Jimmy Hart is keenly waiting to pull down the top rope, and Gibson spills to the floor. The second fall is a DQ, but that's a simple formality because that cause everything to fall apart, and the teams are brawling on the outside. That's all we get because WE ARE OUT OF TIME.

vs Bill Dundee & Bobby Fulton (Memphis 11/15/1982)

Eaton and Fulton start off, and it's as solid as you'd expect. Eaton tags in Sweet Brown Sugar and Fulton gives him all he can handle. Eaton tags back in, and still, Fulton is in total control. We get some lawlessness with all four men in the ring, and somehow end up with Ware and Dundee being the legal men. Sugar misses a splash in the corner and bumps all the way to the outside. The Dundee/Sugar section is lackluster. An attempted double team by Eaton and Ware fails. We eventually get back to Fulton and Eaton, which seems to be the best pairing this match can offer, at least on this night. Eaton finally gets control of the match, and Dundee, on more than one occasion, has to step in to help out Fulton. Jimmy Hart finally gets involved in the match, causing Dundee to chase after him, and with Dundee out of the picture, Eaton and Ware hit a sloppy Demolition Decapitator, and it's over.

vs The Fabulous Ones (Memphis 11/27/1982)

There's not a ton here. The match is very short, what of it that is there is pretty good, but it's a few stretches of pretty boiler-plate stuff that escalates to the point that all four men are in the ring, and then cools down. The New York Dolls hit the ring to attack the Fabs, and it's a DQ. A bunch of the roster joins in on the fun, and WE'RE OUT OF TIME.

vs Jacques Rougeau & Terry Taylor (Memphis 1/1/1983)

Rougeau and Taylor are both singles champions here. They get a fair amount of shine here, and really it's kind of a shame because I think Rougeau is just short of bad here, overselling and mannerisms that are annoying in the worst way.  An eye-poke turns the tables, and Eaton and Ware are able to take over. There slam the brakes on and just go to town on Terry Taylor, cutting off the ring, and giving Taylor no room to breate. Eventually, Taylor gets a tag into Rougeau, who clears the ring, stands tall, takes it to Ware, hits a second rope dropkick, and things are over pretty quickly.

vs Bill Dundee & Terry Taylor (Memphis 1/15/1983)

There's a lot more stereotypical heel tactics from Eaton, especially in this, as opposed to some of the earlier matches reviewed here. Eaton looks pretty great here; he has really strong offense against Taylor early on, and sells well for Dundee. Koko is there for an occasional tag, but this is all Eaton really. Ware is working over Taylor when Dundee gets tied up arguing with the ref, Eaton grabs a hold of Taylor, Koko goes to the top rope, but Taylor ducks and Ware hits Eaton with a top-rope missile dropkick, and it's all over. Koko is upset, Eaton is upset, and we almost come to blows, but cooler heads prevail for now.

Verdict

A very good, very solid team. Eaton, unsurprisingly, stands out, but Ware plays his part well. They don't scream GREAT Tag Team to me, but I'd say they're easily one of the better teams we've seen so far in these posts. I still think, and this is shocking to me, lean toward Money Inc as being the best one so far, but these guys are in serious contention.
